The Wamego City Commission will be addressing the Contractor’s licensing issue again. At Tuesday’s meeting, Contractor Richie Chrest presented a petition to the City Clerk to modify the existing contractor’s licensing resolution requirement on rental property. According to City Manager Merl Page, this was a referendum ordinance and the Governing Body can review and pass the new ordinance or the petition can be placed on a special election ballot in 90 days. An air service agreement was passed during Tuesday night’s Manhattan City Commission meeting at City Hall.  According to the terms American Airlines will bring in a larger aircraft to service the area, and will receive $75,000 if passengers fall below %80 in its Dallas-Fort Worth flights for the month.  The agreement will use a state fund of one million dollars, and will not directly impact the city budget. The agreement was passed alongside what supporters are calling an aggressive marketing campaign using funds set aside with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.  The $250,000 will be leveraged to bring in more…

By Chris Kutz, K-State Athletics Communications Clarence “Perk” Reitemeier, a member of K-State baseball’s All-Century Team, passed away this past Sunday in Parsons, Kansas. He was 86. Reitemeier was not just a three-year starter for the Wildcat baseball team but an outstanding pitcher and hitter from 1950-51 and 1954. In 1950, he led the team with 65 innings pitched and 50 strikeouts while in 1951, he paced the Wildcats in batting average (.383) and home runs (4).
