The last person arrested in connection with the kidnapping case, that took place in October of last year in the 1300 block of Flint Hills Place, was sentenced in Riley County Court Monday afternoon. Rasheem Wilson appeared in court alongside his attorney. Prosecuting State Attorney, Barry Wilkerson stated the victims were present in the courtroom, but did not wish to speak. Funds have not been allocated and no plans have been officially approved, but discussions regarding the possibility of building a new shooting range and training facility for the Riley County Police Department continue to move forward. During Monday’s county commission meeting, Planning/Special Projects Director, Monty Wedel and RCPD Director, Brad Schoen requested the commission approve proceeding with scheduling a neighborhood meeting on the matter. The doubles team of Kirkland Lambert and Collin Queal finished in 7th place after a 4-2 weekend. – Wamego girls track and field finished in third place at the NCKL meet. Vietnam veterans are being honored next week during K-State’s Memorial Day Ceremony on campus. Executive Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, Art DeGroat says the university will honor the 42 K-State students who died serving during the Vietnam War. The entire community is invited to attend this Memorial Day rememberance ceremony, which starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 25th in front of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. K-State Communications announced a large step in the construction process for the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility though K-State Today. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate announced their award of $834 million, which makes up the final construction contract needed in order to complete NBAF. The state of Kansas is also providing $307 million, and the city of Manhattan is covering $5 million of the total bill needed.
