The Biosecurity Research Institute on the Kansas State University Campus is getting some national attention, with USA Today publishing an article on line about regulatory issues–as part of a series.   A woman left a traffic stop safely after being pulled over by someone believed to be a police impersonator. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office is reporting a possible male suspect impersonating a police officer. A female victim reported that at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday (August 4th) she was driving East on Highway 24 when a black 4 door car that looked to have flashing lights on top of the car pulled in behind her. Manhattan City Commissioners approved $3.02 million for Anneberg Park improvements Tuesday night in City Hall. The improvements will include new synthetic turf athletic fields and lighting. Bayer Construction Company, Inc., of Manhattan will receive $2,096, 116.10 to construct bases for the new fields, while Shaw Sports Turf of Calhoun, Ga., will receive $549,747 for the synthetic turf construction. Olsson Associates of Manhattan will receive $46,445 for engineering services for the project. Funding for these improvements will be from the Special Parks and Recreation Fund and alcohol tax revenues. DETROIT (AP)– Salvador Perez can’t explain his success against Justin Verlander. He just hopes it continues. Perez had three hits off Verlander, including a homer, and drove in three runs as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 5-1 Tuesday night.
