Officers have responded to gunshot calls, underage drinking reports, and battery instances. RCPD Cpt. Josh Kyle provided the county commission with an update on this matter during their Thursday meeting. Kyle shared a few stories of previous experiences officers have had at these gatherings. A Kansas State University alumnus and one of the leaders of the Green Revolution will receive an honorary doctorate from Kansas State University. Wayne Freeman will be honored at the university’s Graduate School commencement at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Bramlage Coliseum. He also will serve as the commencement speaker at the ceremony. The awarding of the honorary doctorate follows the approval by the Kansas Board of Regents. It is one of the highest honors the university can give. Students’ Advisory Committee The Students’ Advisory Committee, chaired by K-State’s Student Body President Reagan Kays, opposed proposed changes to Kansas Statute 76-742: Student fees for debt service on academic or health facilities. A 22-year-old Manhattan man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after an investigation into criminal damage to property. Ivan Beaulieu was taken into custody at approximately 1:30 PM. He was arrested for arson and criminal damage to property, with a bond of $50,000. Riley county Police say Beaulieu’s arrest stemmed from an incident involving burned carpet and clothing that belonged to a roommate and an apartment company.
