The Leonardville man held at the Riley County Jail on a $20,000 bond for drug related charges appeared in Riley County District Court Friday morning. Tony Dugan, 35, was arrested on the offenses of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia on a felony level, criminal use of a weapon, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Dugan’s preliminary hearing was set for Friday, however was granted a continuance pending a decision on whether or not his case falls under state or federal jurisdiction. An accident in Pottawatomie County Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital. John Rookstool, 62, of Wamego was taken to St. Mary’s and Jeffrey Freeman, 52, of Topeka was taken to St. Mary’s and then Stormont Vail in Topeka following the accident on Maple Hill Road, one mile south of St. Mary’s. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the 8:55 a.m. accident occurred when a 1997 Ford Pickup driven by Rookstool was southbound on Maple Hill Road. Riley County EMS will soon receive two new ambulances to add to its fleet. County commissioners approved the purchases Thursday morning and the vehicles will cost $242,336 each. The ambulances were bought from Horton Ambulance Company and is a business the county has purchased vehicles from in the past. That is the amount he says was raised over three years for the undercover video operation that has set off a national uproar over use of tissue from aborted fetuses. The court on Wednesday denied Chris Imming’s petition seeking a review of a Kansas appeals court decision that went against the Topeka resident, who led the petition drive.
