A Manhattan man faces a variety of charges following his arrest Tuesday night. Dustin Cyr, 24, was taken into custody by Riley County police in the 2200  block of Claflin Road at approximately 7:50 P.M. Cyr was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, reckless driving, and obstruction of the legal process. His bond was set at $5,000. ## And Police arrested Megan Heinsohn, 23, of Manhattan at about  9:00 PM Tuesday. Heinsohn was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on a warrant for probation violation. Her “no bond” warrant originated in Shawnee County. ###…

The Kansas State Wildcats Football team moved up two spots to 7th in the latest College Football rankings released by the committee on Tuesday night. K-State was the second-highest ranked Big 12 team behind #6 TCU. The Wildcats and Horned Frogs will square off Saturday night in Ft. Worth. The Wamego City Commission addressed the Contractor’s Licensing Code once again at their biweekly meeting Tuesday night. A  large audience turned out for the meeting in anticipation of any decision the Commission may make regarding the ordinance. Because the issue was tabled from the last session, some of the same questions and suggestions were addressed at this meeting. Additionally, some misunderstandings were cleared up by City Building Official Mac Campbell. After hours of public discussion during multiple meetings, spanning multiple years, the Manhattan City Commission discussed the final design details Tuesday for improvements to Peace Memorial Auditorium. The original plan in 2012 was to relocate the aging Parks and Rec offices from City Park to the auditorium and remove the stage in order to make room for the basketball court. The plan was quickly tabled, however, as local veterans and concerned residents voiced their displeasure with the City changing what was originally built as a “living” war memorial. The reward is up to $15,000 for information leading to an arrest in the reported abduction of Carlesha Freeland-Gaither. The Fraternal Order of Police added its own $5,000 reward Tuesday to the $10,000 the city approved Monday for information on the disappearance of 22-year-old Freeland-Gaither. Detectives say a witness reported seeing a woman identified as Freeland-Gaither yelling for help as she was forced into a dark gray four-door vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday in Germantown.
