K-State enrollment is up for the third year in a row after a decade of declines. The university has 21,213 total students according to data released Wednesday. A Wabaunsee County man was arrested this week following an investigation into allegations of unlawful sexual solicitation involving an 18-year-old woman, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said the report was filed Sept. 27, stating that a 58-year-old man met with the woman near Eskridge, provided her with cash and a condom, and is alleged to have solicited her. Following an investigation, authorities on Sept. 30 arrested JD Hill, 58, of Eskridge, without incident. Hill was booked into the Wabaunsee County Jail on a $5,000 bond. He faces a charge of attempted buying sexual relations, hiring a person to engage.…
A Manhattan man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on multiple probation violation warrants stemming from theft and drug-related charges, according to the Riley County Police Department. Conner Bruce, 21, of Manhattan, was taken into custody Sept. 30 at about 2:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza. Police said the arrest was based on four Riley County District Court warrants for probation violation. The warrants stem from original charges that include four counts of theft and one count each of criminal deprivation of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempted theft and making false information. Conner Bruce, 21, of Manhattan, was arrested on Sept. 30, 2025 at approximately 2:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza in Manhattan on four Riley County District Court warrants for probation violation. This arrest stems from original charges that include four counts of theft and one count each for criminal deprivation of a firearm, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempted theft and making false information. Authorities are investigating an aggravated assault reported late Sunday night in Manhattan. Riley County Police say the incident occurred just after 11:30 p.m. near Hayes Drive and McCall Road when a 30-year-old woman told police an unknown man pointed a handgun at her before driving away.
