SAN DIEGO (AP) — Cairo Santos kicked a 48-yard field goal field goal with 21 seconds left and the Kansas City Chiefs beat San Diego 23-20 Sunday, snapping the Chargers’ five-game winning streak. The Chiefs moved into field goal range thanks to Alex Smith, who completed three straight passes on the drive for 53 yards, including a 29-yarder to Dwayne Bowe. National Guard soldiers from across the state came together Sunday to Frank Anneberg Park in Manhattan for the activation ceremony of the 130th Field Artillery Brigade. The 130th has been activated and deactivated twice already, with the last activation having supported the war on terror in the Middle East until 2007. One non-commissioned officer was a part of the 130th at the beginning of his Army National Guard career when the 130th was last activated, and he’s now in a leadership position. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) An auditorium that was designed by architects-in-training at the University of Kansas has opened on the Lawrence campus. The Lawrence Journal-World (http://bit.ly/1rlI5xT ) reports that the first lecture was conducted Friday at the Forum at Marvin Hall. The School of Architecture, Design and Planning is housed inside the hall, which previously didn’t have an auditorium. Lecture classes took place across the campus. The privately funded addition was a project of Studio 804, a not-for-profit corporation and a design/build class. The auditorium features exterior walls that are made of glass, with a naturally ventilated facade using cedar louvers.…

On Saturday morning a Manhattan woman was arrested on drug related charges. 24-year-old Tiffany Dishman was arrested for possession of drugs, and drug paraphernalia.  Dishman is facing two other charges related to obstruction of the legal process. Dishman is being held on a $5,500 Bond.

Saturday’s 31-30 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday moved the Kansas State Wildcats to #11 in both the Associated Press Sportswriters Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. It’s the highest ranking for K-State’s Football team since they were #5 going into the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. K-State is now the Big 12’s second highest ranked team behind #10 TCU.
