Riley County Police responded to more than 20 incidents over the weekend, including fights, batteries and an unattended death, according to department activity logs. The most serious arrest came early Saturday when officers arrested 24-year-old Enrique Rayshon Morales of Fort Riley on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and making a criminal threat. Morales was booked into the Riley County Jail on a $15,000 bond. In a separate incident, 34-year-old Eduardo Luis Solorzano Torres of Manhattan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, his second such offense. His bond was set at $1,500. Claire’s, a popular mall boutique for teens and young women, specializing in fashion accessories and ear piercings, will close nearly 300 stores nationwide as part of its ongoing bankruptcy process. That includes the store inside Manhattan Town Center. The company will also close stores in Dodge City, Emporia, Garden City, Leawood, Pittsburg, and Wichita. Jordan Zimmerman, 27, of Manhattan, was arrested on August 28, 2025, at approximately 1:04 p.m., in the 1100 block of Bluemont Ave., in Manhattan, on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. By Rose Gruenbacher Former Manhattan chiropractor Clark Petersen was convicted Thursday evening of 51 counts of sex crimes against 16 clients, after a jury deliberated for a day and a half in Riley County District Court. The jury found Peterson guilty of four counts of rape, 40 counts of aggravated battery, four counts of sexual battery, one count of lewd and lascivious behavior, one count of attempted rape and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sodomy.
