I hardly call it quitting after 41 years. Quitting has such a negative connotation to it. Perhaps “Calling it Quits” or the “Final Days of Savings” would have been more appropriate. The Riley County commission on Thursday agreed to rezone a property north of Manhattan to allow a landscaping business to move onto it. Done Right Landscaping LLC will take over the plot at 6621 Tuttle Creek Boulevard after commissioners approved the request to rezone it from single-unit residential to a planned-unit development. Justin Brock, the owner of Done Right Landscaping, said the rezoning would combine his residence and business and make getting to the job site more efficent. by Emma Loura A group of volunteers on Tuesday afternoon collected litter into trash bags along Linear Trail and the Kansas River. Friends of the Kaw, a nonprofit organization, organizes monthly cleanups during spring, summer and fall in communities between Kansas City and Junction City where the river flows. The vice president of a local construction company is pushing back against a city official’s claim that material shortages caused a road project’s delayed completion date. Travis Shilling, vice president of Shilling Construction Company Inc., said Tuesday the complexity of the work on Anderson/Bluemont Avenue between 11th Street and Harris Drive was the reason it missed its original expected completion date of Aug. 16. Officers filed a report of a motor vehicle theft in the 1200 block of Bertrand St. on Tuesday at around 5 p.m. RCPD listed a 21-year-old male as the victim when it was reported his black and yellow Honda motorcycle was taken by an unknown suspect in the overnight hours. The total loss associated with this report is approximately $2,000. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
