Deshaun Durham, 24, was to spend 92 months in the Hutchinson Correctional Facility for a first-time cannabis defense, but now he walked free Friday morning. Gov. Laura Kelly on Nov. 7 overturned the Kansas Prison Review Board’s rejection of Durham’s clemency application, allowing him to return home for the holidays. “Today is a big victory in the barbaric and senseless war on a scientifically-proven medicinal plant, cannabis,” Durham said in a written statement. On Wednesday, multiple outlets reported that senior wing Achor Achor was no longer with the team. It’s unknown as of press time whether Achor left of his own volition or was dismissed. The Riley County Police Department filed a report of theft by deception on December 10 in the 300 block of Southwind Road. According to officials, the incident occurred around 11:44 PM, involving an employee at a Dollar Tree store who allegedly fell victim to a telephone scam posing as an asset protection measure. Authorities say the scheme resulted in a total loss of approximately $1,200. No arrests have been announced at this time.

Officers filed a report of vehicle burglary in the 2600 block of Claflin Road on December 10, 2024, at approximately 6:36 AM. Officers listed a 23-year-old male as the victim when it was reported miscellaneous Milwaukee power tools were stolen from his vehicle by an unknown subject overnight. Two were transported to a local hospital following an accident near a roundabout on Tuesday evening in Manhattan. RCPD reports that 27-year-old Subdint Cruz of Manhattan and a minor child were transported to Via Christi by EMS and then later to separate hospitals after they were both struck by a Honda Civic driven by 48-year-old Aaron Crews of Junction City as they tried to cross the street. Riley County police on Tuesday reported 11 motor vehicle burglaries in the past 24 hours. Police believe these burglaries are connected but are still in the early stages of investigating. Most of the cars the burglars broke into were unlocked, police said. Items stolen include cash, purses, wallets, sunglasses, and a weapon. Tokoi said the majority of these incidents happened in the northwest side of Manhattan. So far, police have received leads, including an eyewitness account and Ring doorbell footage. Officers reported a motor vehicle theft in the 500 block of S. 15th Street on December 9, 2024 at approximately 6:55 AM. Officers listed Olgoonik Enterprise as the victim when it was reported a work truck was stolen by an unknown suspect. It was discovered an additional vehicle was missing, a 2012 GMC Denali.
