Officers filed a report for rape in Manhattan on September 29, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m. A 17-year-old woman was listed as the victim and a 16-year-old man was listed as the suspect.  Due to the nature of the crime reported, no additional information will be released. Kansas State University will host Nobel Iaureate John C. Mather from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center for the 2023 Chester Peterson Jr. Public Lecture in Physics. Mather is a senior astrophysicist at the Goddard Space Flight Center and a professor of physics at the University of Maryland. He has been the leader of the James Webb Space Telescope science team since the project began in 1995, and Mather was a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physics with George Smoot in 2006. The Kansas State University College of Business held the 12th annual C. Clyde Fun Run and Midge’s Mile Walk on Saturday at Frank Anneberg Park. The annual event is a fundraiser for local nonprofit Shepherd’s Crossing. Organizers Saturday said they expect this year’s money raised will reach $25,000.
