The Manhattan High School Boys Cross Country team won the Kansas Class 6A State Championship Saturday in Lawrence finishing first with 27 points outdistancing Wichita North which was second with 105 points. Individual finishes for the Indians included Chris Melgares (2nd), Jack Keeley (5th) Jackson Schroeder (6th), Josue Alvarado (7th), Isaiah Koppes (11th), Michael Melgares (17th) and Nick Bandy (31st). The Manhattan High Girls Cross Country team took 6th place at State with 158 points. The MHS Girls were led by Alana Schroeder (3rd), Cara Melgares (16th) and Megan Ochoa (27th).

GTM Sportswear has partnered with Stonecreek Family Physicians and will soon provide free, mid-level healthcare to all its employees and their dependents, in an on-site health clinic. Both parties celebrated the announcement with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Friday afternoon. The GTM Clinic will provide routine preventative care, chronic disease management, and urgent care management of acute illnesses and minor injuries. Services will be available to team members on Monday and expanded to team member dependents in 2014.
