Darby Price is the second Manhattan High senior from the girls state tournament team to sign to play college basketball. Hours after teammate Par McNair signed with Hutchinson Community College to play basketball and soccer, Price signed her letter of intent to play basketball next season at Rockhurst University. “It’s a great amount of relief,” Price said. “It’s done and I can’t wait to start playing.” Price was the Centennial League player of the year this past season and was also named first team all-state after helping lead the Indians back to state for the second time in three years.…
The library received a grant to participate in this year’s World Book Night celebration on Wednesday, April 23. Library staff and volunteers will be giving out free books in Aggieville, Downtown Manhattan, and the Little Apple Brewery from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in effort to raise awareness about the library and its services. A pair of Manhattan high stand out athletes have signed their letters of intent to play collegiate athletics. Jessie Kujawa and Par McNair will be taking a step forward into the world of collegiate athletics. Jessie will be playing volleyball at Fort Hays State while Par will attend Hutchinson Community College to play both basketball and soccer. Jessie began her volleyball career in fourth grade. Bruce Weber’s contract has been extended by a year through the 2018-19 season after leading the Wildcats to another NCAA tournament appearance. The extension was approved unanimously by the K-State Athletics, Inc., Board of Directors, the school announced Wednesday. Weber won’t get a pay increase, but he would be in line for a $500,000 retention bonus if he stays at K-State through the end of the contract on April 30, 2019. His salary next season will be $1.85 million, with an increase of $100,000 for each remaining year on the contract. He would make $2.25 million during the final year…

K-State point guard Leti Romero is seeking a transfer following a freshman season in which she earned second team all big 12 honors for the Wildcats. The native of Las Palmas, Spain tells the Topeka Capital-Journal that she’s being “blackmailed” by the school, as they have refused her request for a transfer. K-State men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber told the guys on “Wildcat Insider” on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN a few weeks back that he wanted to schedule a BCS school for a game at Bramlage Coliseum next season. Now it appears Weber is holding true to his word. The Athens Banner-Herald is reporting that the Cats and Georgia will play a home-and-home series the next two seasons, starting with a December 31st, 2014 date in Manhattan.
