After several concealed carry discussions, during previous Riley County Commission meetings,  the commission finally viewed the confidential security plan that would exempt four county buildings from the law. County Counselor, Clancy Holeman has been working on the language, and presented it to the commission during their Thursday meeting. Commission Chair, Dave Lewis described the law as a “frustrating situation”, but said “this is a good plan”. A Missouri man was arrested by Riley County Police Christmas Day.  Gregory Latson, 25, of Waldorf, Missouri was taken into custody just before one a.m. Christmas day.  Latson was arrested on a warrant listing charges of probation violation and failure to appear. His bond was set at $5,500.

On the injury front for K-State, senior safety Ty Zimmerman practiced for the Cats on Wednesday in Arizona, but senior offensive lineman Keenan Taylor and sophomore placekicker Jack Cantele did not.  Taylor was the Cats’ starting right guard for the Cats in the first nine games, and Cantele hasn’t kicked since drilling the game winning field goal against TCU.  Ian Patterson will likely kick against the Wolverines. HONOLULU (AP)   DeAndre Kane scored 23 points and No. 14 Iowa State overcame its worst half of the season to beat Boise State 70-66 on Wednesday in the Diamond Head Classic championship game.   Kane hit a 3-pointer with less than 2 minutes left to help seal the win for the Cyclones.  Boise State’s Derrick Marks had a chance to tie with less than 30 seconds left, but missed a 15-foot jumper. The win gives Iowa State its best start to a season in school history at 11-0.

DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) A fire has shut down operations at Cargill’s beef packing plant in Dodge City. The Wichita Eagle reports there were no injuries in the fire Monday night at the southwest Kansas facility, but 1,000 employees were evacuated. Cargill spokesman Mike Martin said Tuesday the flames damaged the roof in one part of the plant. Investigators were looking for the cause. Martin says Cargill will be able to move production to its other beef plants temporarily. He says the company expects the Dodge City plant to resume operations next week if it can get contractors in over…
