The 2013-2014 school year has official began as the new board has taken their seats at the table. At their meeting Wednesday, Aaron Estabrook, Marcia Rozell, and Pat Hudgins joined the others to begin their term. During the meeting, a new president and vice president were chosen and Curt Herrman will be holding the position of board president and Leah Fliter will be vice president. Deputies from the Geary county sheriff’s department responded to Humboldt Creek Rd. and Schmedemann Rd. just after 6:30 Tuesday evening for a one vehicle injury accident. Jacquelyn L. Barbieri of Junction City was traveling South of Humboldt Creek Rd. when she lost control of her 2006 Jeep. The vehicle rolled on its top into the east ditch. Barbieri’s passenger, Anthony Goodwin, also of Junction City was flown by Lifestar to Stormont Vail Hospital. Goodwin was treated and released from Stormont Vail.

(AP) — With one swing of the bat, Alex Gordon wiped clean five innings of sketchy pitching with a grand slam to right field to tie the Kansas City Royals with the Cleveland Indians at 4.  Gordon is the ninth Royals player to hit two grand slams in a season. TOPEKA, KAN. – According to U.S. Attorney, Barry Grissom, Nine students from Nepal attending Kansas State University have been indicted on charges of visa fraud. A grand jury indictment, unsealed Tuesday, alleges the students conspired to maintain their non-immigrant visas by making false statements that they possessed adequate funds to pursue their proposed course of study and support themselves and their dependents. The indictment alleges that beginning in the fall of 2008, all nine students obtained temporary possession of financial resources for the purpose of obtaining statements from financial institutions to support their false claims that each personally had the…
