WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A convicted child sex predator from central Kansas will soon learn how much he must pay the 9-year-old girl he used to produce pornography. Philip Andra Grigsby, 50, of Marquette, faced a restitution hearing Monday before the same federal judge who sentenced him in May to 260 years in prison. His attorney has already filed a notice of appeal in the case. Grigsby pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexually exploiting a child. During their meeting Monday, the Pottawatomie County Commission was given their weekly update on the progress of the new Justice Center in Westmoreland.  As progress continues to be made on both the outside, with pavement and sidewalks expected, and on the inside, with finishes within the jail and carpets in the courtrooms, the end date is still some time off.  Due to change orders, negotiations and a possibility of weather days, the completion date for the center has been pushed to about the middle of August, according to Trisha Brooke-Fruendt, Construction Manager for SMH Consultants. The Manhattan fire department responded to a couple of interesting calls over the weekend. According to a report issued by the department this (Monday) morning, fire crews responded to a call in which a vehicle struck the front of the Dara’s Fast Lane located at 3270 Kimball Ave. Upon investigation, it was determined that the damaged was limited to the front door, and it was safe for the business to stay open. the damage was estimated at $3-thousand. Update: The jury trial for a former Fort Riley soldier charged with the death of a Kansas National Guardsman has been delayed in Riley County district court for a couple of months. A spokeswoman indicates the Daniel Parker trial, which was to have started with jury selection Monday, was continued to August 19th due to unforeseen circumstances. Authorities indicated Monday there was a medical emergency involving one of the attorneys involved, Ron Evans.. On his first day as a pro, now former K-State high jumper Erik Kynard claimed his first USA Track & Field championship on Sunday.  The London Olympics silver medalist cleared the first four heights without a miss, including one at seven feet, five and three quarter inches.  His next closest competitor, former Nebraska standout Dusty Jonas missed that mark on his first attempt.  Neither Kynard nor Jonas would clear the next height, seven feet, seven inches, but Jonas’ earlier miss gave Kynard the national championship. (AP)   The Kansas City Royals took advantage of a pair of errors by the Chicago White Sox to score three times in the eighth inning Sunday and rally for a 7-6 win that avoided a three-game sweep.
