By Emma Laura Among the items on a sweeping new master plan for K-State is making Anderson Hall the “front porch” of campus — in part by adding a front porch. The Kansas Board of Regents on Wednesday unanimously approved K-State’s Campus Master Plan for the next five years. That plan includes restoring Anderson Hall to its former glory, remodeling Ahearn as an event venue, turning part of Kedzie into an enrollment center and razing Shellenberger Hall to build a research building. Riley County Police officers arrested an Ogden man Wednesday, at 2:11 p.m. for over 30 charges, the man is now held in jail on a $100,000 bond. Kyle Patrick Tarpey, 20, is charged with aggravated offender registration act violation, 27 counts of offender registration act violation and five counts of perjury. All registration violations involve person-based offenses. An RCPD spokesperson said the arrest stems from a report filed in August. They would not confirm whether it’s connected to previous cases filed in court for Tarpey in Riley County and Pottawatomie County.

Kyle Tarpey, 20, of Ogden, was arrested on Sept. 17, 2025, at approximately 2:11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road in Manhattan on 27 counts of violating the offender registration act, five counts of perjury and one count of aggravated violation of the offender registration act. This arrest stems from a report filed in August 2025. Tarpey was issued a total bond of $100,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report. By Emma Loura and Megan Moser The USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden school board voted to ask member Katie Allen’s to resign Wednesday night following a social media post she made about the death of conservative political influencer Charlie Kirk. Allen said she would not resign but would step down as board vice president. The other six board members admonished Allen for her actions and passed a resolution requesting that she submit her resignation, which passed 5-1. Board member Jayme Morris-Hardeman voted no. By Rose Gruenbacher The head of Riley County Police Department’s corrections division on Monday said much of its overpopulation comes from inmates awaiting court. RCPD Maj. Mark French spoke during Monday’s meeting of the Riley County Law Enforcement Agency Board meeting, describing some factors contributing to that situation. French said the jail does not hold minor and misdemeanor offenders in-house and sends those offenders to other facilities, but the jail still faces a numbers issue.
