West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins apologized Monday after using a homophobic slur to refer to Xavier fans while also denigrating Catholics during a radio interview. Commercial flights at the Manhattan Regional Airport were suspended May 5th for a $30 million runway reconstruction project, and the Airport Advisory Board received an exciting update during their Monday meeting. Coach Klieman isn’t planning on leaving Manhattan any time soon. According to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the K-State head coach agreed to terms with the University on a contract extension that pays him $44 million to coach the Wildcats through the 2030 season. The deal comes after Klieman led the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl appearance during the 2022 season. The Manhattan Senior Center celebrated its recent rebranding with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday. Center Director Liz Nelson cut the ribbon herself and explained how the center started off with a rather cumbersome name. Nelson said as time progressed, they realized the name was in need of a refresh. Local nonprofit Thrive is hosting its Musical May Day Extravaganza fundraiser Sunday. Thrive Flint Hills representative Tana Warner says the event promises plenty of fun for all ages. Warner encourages everyone to come out and learn more about their organization and the life-changing work they have done for community members struggling to make ends meet.
