Officers filed a domestic battery report in the 200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. A 46-year-old woman listed as a victim reported that a 51-year-old man battered her. Tracy Moore, 51, of Adel, IA, was arrested on April 18, 2025, at approximately 4:06 p.m. in the 200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. Moore was transported and confined in the Pottawatomie County Jail with a bond of $25,000. Kaiden Burton, 22, of Wamego, KS, was arrested in Pottawatomie County at approximately 3:16 p.m. for a Riley County District Court warrant for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Local law enforcement agencies are alerting the public to watch out for counterfeit money circulating in the area. The Riley County and Junction City Police Departments each say they received reports last week of counterfeit $100 bills. They say the cases appear to be connected, as the serial numbers on the bills match. The counterfeit bills are described as an older design that lacks current security features. They also have a waxy texture and have passed some counterfeit detection pen tests. Both agencies are encouraging the community to carefully verify any cash received to ensure its authenticity.

Wet conditions caused a 3-vehicle crash on US-77 Sunday, about four miles south of Junction City. The Geary County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 3:30 pm when a SUV, driven by Alleigh Swarts, of Manhattan, hyrdroplaned in the southbound lane and side swiped a northbound passenger car, driven by Keenan Sanger-Koepke, of Herington. After swiping the first car, Swarts then struck a northbound Chevy Silverado, driven by Travis Hiatt, of Manhattan. Hiatt and other occupants in his vehicle were transported by EMS to Stormont Vail-Flint Hills for medical evaluation. The extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately available.

Kansas State senior women’s golfer Sophie Bert carded a final-round total of 5-under par 66 on Thursday, rising 13 spots up the leaderboard to capture the Wildcats’ first-ever individual conference championship title at the 2025 Big 12 Championship held at the par-71, 6,249-yard Houston Oaks Golf Club. Wamego softball extended its win streak to five games with a pair of mercy rule wins over Concordia on Tuesday. The Red Raiders (5-1) are third in 4A East, only trailing 8-1 Baldwin and 13-0 Eudora.
