Another Monday has come and gone and with that another Pottawatomie County Commission meeting. On the agenda for Monday, there were a host of different department updates for the commission. Leu Lowrey, Public Works Director, came in to talk about the moving of the sheriff’s department once the transition to the new Justice Center is done.  The cost associated with the project is expected to be about 50 thousand dollars. Jared King will skip his senior season at K-State and sign with the New York Mets on Tuesday after being taken in the fifth round of the MLB draft. “It’s a tough decision,” King told KMAN’s “The Game” on Monday. “We had a great year and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m happy everything fell into place.” King will fly to New York to sign his contract. A Kansas State Graduate student in the college of veterinary medicine has been given a downward departure from his original plea deal by a Riley County judge after he plead no contest to the involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of two Ogden residents. In May of 2012 Miles Theurer killed Micheal Stanley and Elizabeth Young in a head-on collision as he drove back with friends after a night of drinking on K-18 just outside of Manhattan.  He subsequently plead no contest to two counts of involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol.
