WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Police in Wichita are looking for two men who stole thousands of dollars’ worth of electronics from a Target store. The break-in happened around 4 a.m. Wednesday at the Target near the Towne East Square shopping mall. KSNW-TV reports that burglars hit the same store last August and took 16 iPads. In the latest incident, two men wearing dark clothes, gloves and ski masks broke out two glass front doors and left with iPads, iPods, digital cameras and several laptop computers. Police said no employees were in the store at the time.

EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) A 60-year-old Emporia man has been arrested following a long investigation into obscene letters sent to more than 20 women. Radio station KVOE reports the man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of 47 counts of stalking and 47 counts of promoting obscenity. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday. Authorities say the stalking investigation involved more than 20 women in Emporia and surrounding Lyon County. Some of the women began receiving the letters in late 2011. Parents of students in USD 383 have been made aware of an incident that took place within the last 10 days during which a female student from Bergman Elementary School was offered a ride home. KMAN News spoke with Michele Jones USD 383 Communications Coordinator on Wednesday afternoon about the incident alleged to have occurred on January 15. After gathering input from area leaders and athletic coaches in the month of December, group members involved with the Fieldhouse Project, a project to build a new sports facility in Manhattan, are pleased with the results of a survey. Approximately 2,300 people took the survey and the majority noted that they would support the project with a combination of fees and taxes, which surprised Fieldhouse Project chair Gail Urban. Shots fired early Wednesday morning resulted in a suicide. As KMAN previously reported, shots were fired around 6:45 a.m. within a home on the 2400 block of Charlios Lane. Earl Billot (38) reported to Riley County Police that he heard shots fired in his home and his fiance was injured.  Upon arrival, police found Kendra Billam (48) deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Billam was a former science teacher at Manhattan High School for 17 years and started with USD 383 in 1989 as an aide.
