TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas residents who receive Medicare benefits will soon be seeing new information on their claim statements. Shawn Sullivan, state secretary of aging and disability services, said Monday it’s part of an effort by the federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services to reduce waste, fraud and abuse in the health care system. The statements will provide clearer information about the benefits residents are entitled to receive and the services that have been rendered. Wamego is facing a School Bus Driver Shortage. At Monday’s USD 320 Board of Education meeting, Transportation Director Larry Hannan went over a list of things that keep him up at night. He said USD 320 has had little luck in recruiting school bus drivers, which has resulted in a decrease in drivers and routes. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)   Relatives of a Kansas City Chiefs player and his girlfriend are due in court to argue for custody of the baby girl orphaned by the couple’s murder-suicide. Jovan Belcher shot and killed Kasandra Perkins at the couple’s Kansas City home last Dec. 1, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and shot himself in front of Chiefs coaches and officials. Belcher and Perkins were the parents of 9-month-old Zoey Belcher. The custody fight pits Jovan Belcher’s mother, Cheryl Shepherd, of West Babylon, N.Y., against relatives of Perkins. (AP) Jeremy Guthrie pitched impressively into the seventh inning, Salvador Perez hit a two-run triple and the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 Monday night for their sixth straight victory.
