(K-State Athletics) – Head coach Jerome Tang was named one of 25 finalists for the 2023 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award, which is annually given to the top Division I minority coach, on Tuesday (March 7). The award is named for Jobe, an icon in the history of basketball at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This Wednesday, the Manhattan Chapter of the American Association of University Women is hosting their 8th annual International Women’s Day celebration and forum. Manhattan AAUW Officer Barbara Gatewood said America’s first National Women’s Day took place in 1909, emerging from labor movements in New York. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas legislators are considering a proposal that many disability rights advocates say would encourage employers to keep paying disabled workers less than the minimum wage, bucking a national trend. A Kansas House bill would expand a state income tax credit for goods and services purchased from vendors employing disabled workers, doubling the total allowed to $10 million annually. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Thursday arrested two Kansas men on allegations that the pair illegally exported aviation-related technology to Russia and provided repair services for the equipment. Cyril Gregory Buyanovsky and Douglas Robertson are charged with conspiracy, exporting controlled goods without a license, falsifying and failing to file electronic export information, and smuggling goods in violation of U.S. law.
