Gibson, who also coached at Tulane and Louisville, has lost the use of his upper body and his ability to stand, because of the disease, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, his wife, Cecile, said on Tuesday. Cecile Gibson says her husband was originally misdiagnosed and believed to have Parkinson’s disease. He found out in April 2010 that it was actually ALS. Gibson, who is 78, compiled a 75-98-2 record as a college coach. He also played offensive guard at Florida State.

Crennel will lead the Chiefs through the end of the season after Todd Haley was fired on Monday. Long considered one of the game’s brightest defensive…
“Misleading” and “alarmist” are just some of the words used by Brian McNulty, Operations Project Manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake, to describe a news release issued Tuesday from the U.S. Geological Survey regarding sediment in the lake. While he agrees some of the facts are correct, he tells KMAN the statement that Tuttle Creek has lost 43 percent of its storage capacity is misleading. McNulty adds yet another survey has been completed by the Corps but has not been published, which should more acurately portray the actual sedimintation rate information. And yet another survey…
While admitting it’s not a perfect system, Shawn Sullivan, the Secretary of the Kansas Department of Aging described it as the best they could come up with, when addressing Pawnee Mental Health officials in Manhattan Tuesday. Secretary Sullivan outlined the new proposed KanCare, or Kansas Integrated Care program, supported by the governor, and to be presented to state legislators. He talked about long-term increases in Medicaid spending due to an increase in enrollment and spending per person. Sullivan admitted in the system he currently works in there’s not any uniform outcome or measure where payment is based on how well…

The school that is widely believed to have cost K-State its spot in the BCS is now struggling to sell its allotment to the Sugar Bowl. Virginia Tech was selected for the January 3rd game in New Orleans in part based on its ability to sell tickets, but is now asking its fans for help to fill the Superdome. Right now, Virginia Tech has sold just over 9,000 of their 17,500 tickets. The Hokies are even encouraging fans to buy proxy tickets for others around the New Orleans area to use. The tickets can be purchased by VA Tech fans…
