Manhattan City Commissioners Tuesday were unanimous in approving new regulations and fees for use of the Aggieville Parking Garage, set to go into effect in January if finalized on second reading by the commission. The proposed fee structure provides the first hour for free, charging visitors $2 per hour after that with a max of $10 – during the hours between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. There will also be an overnight parking rate that’s reduced on weekends and monthly employee permits. The Manhattan-Ogden School Board will consider a real estate property purchase near the College Hill Early Childhood Education Center, when it meets Wednesday evening. Prior to construction at the school, the district had sought to purchase some of the neighboring properties but was unsuccessful. The shape and layout of the site led the district to construct a playground directly south of the school near the heavily traveled Kimball Avenue. FAIRWAY, Kan. (AP) — The grounds of a former Native American boarding school in Kansas will be searched to determined if any Indigenous children were buried there, state officials said. The Kansas Historical Society, which owns the site in Fairway, is contracting with the University of Kansas Center for Research to conduct a ground-penetrating radar survey of the 12 acres (nearly 5 hectares) to search for unmarked graves, The Kansas City Star reported.
