A 22-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital following an injury accident on Saturday evening in Manhattan. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported an SUV driven by Emma Jackson, of Manhattan, was southbound on Manhattan Avenue near Bertrand Street, where it rear-ended a 2018 Chevy Cruze driven by Zola Christensen, of Wamego. EMS transported a passenger in the Chevy, Cheyanne Bryant, of Manhattan, to Via Christi. Bryant was the only injured person, and everyone was properly restrained according to the KHP.

The Indians (11-0) have five wins over Wichita Northwest in the last three years. The Grizzlies, who dropped to 9-2, saw their only two losses come in Manhattan this season.
Manhattan city commissioners on Tuesday will consider adding more than $2 million to the 2024 budget “to allow accumulated monies to be spent,” according to city documents. Commissioners will have a public hearing on the topic, as state law allows municipal governments to amend budgeted funds prior to the end of a budget year under a process similar to the approval of the budget itself. By Toby Hammes When Manhattan High football faced off with Derby for the fourth time in two seasons last year, it was a first for head coach Joe Schartz. On Friday night, it’s a similar story as the No. 2-seeded Indians play host to No. 3-seed Wichita Northwest for the fifth matchup between the familiar foes since 2022. During that 2022 season, Manhattan beat the Grizzlies twice for a perfect state title season. Then, last year, the Indians added another Northwest win.
