The early signing period saw Kansas State’s football program gain the signatures on letters of intent from 15 players, starting early Wednesday morning. Coach Chris Klieman addressed the math behind that number. The signing class consisted of 13 high school prospects and two community-college transfers, hailing from nine different states, including four from Kansas. Four of the incoming players are offensive lineman. Of the 15 signees on Wednesday, nine are expected to enroll at K-State for the 2024 spring semester. The USD 475 Geary County School Board recently voted to allow the district to enter a lease-purchase agreement to acquire the funds necessary to build the new Early Childhood Center on the site of the former Junction City High School. The vote occurred at the school board’s Dec. 4 meeting. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Hunting Avenue in Manhattan on December 19, 2023, around 3:19 PM. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2001 White Toyota Highlander driven by Benen Joyce, 15, of Manhattan crashed with a 2010 red Toyota Yaris driven by Jane Mead, 79, of Manhattan. Two Kansas State University biologists have received more than $1.8 million to fund wild turkey research. David Haukos and Dan Sullins, both assistant professors in the biology department at Kansas State, are researching the decline of turkey populations throughout the state of Kansas. 2:45 p.m. Tuesday update A statewide system was said to be back up and running this afternoon but officials in Pottawatomie County say they are still unable to process new driver’s license and motor vehicle licenses. The issue was from the Kansas Department of Revenue, impacting all counties statewide. County Treasurer Lisa Wright noted to KMAN that their systems were still down as of 2:30 p.m., despite the Department of Revenue systems being back online.
