An older adult from Manhattan’s car was stolen Thursday afternoon. Police say they filed the report around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, when a 76-year-old man reported his truck was stolen from the 500 block of Bertrand Street. The vehicle was a 1989, two-tone tan and brown GMC Sierra. The estimated loss associated with the theft is about 2500 dollars. A Fort Riley man was taken into police custody late Thursday evening, accused of using a fictitious or revoked driver’s license to purchase liquor while underage. 19-year-old Joseph Hawthorne was arrested by Riley County Police just before midnight in the 1200 block of Moro Street. Police allege that Hawthorne, in addition to the alcohol charges, resisted arrest and also faces a charge of battery of a law enforcement officer. Hawthorne was issued a 3 thousand dollar bond and was confined to the Riley County Jail as of Friday’s report.

A young man was robbed at gunpoint before he and a woman were shot at in Manhattan Thursday afternoon. Riley County Police say the crime occurred in the 20 block of Waterway Place, in the Countryside Mobile Home Parks in Manhattan’s Northview neighborhood. According to the police report, a 17-year-old male victim was stuck up at gunpoint by two male suspects aged 15 and 18.
