(Kansas State Athletics)– Four Kansas State student-athletes – Jadyn Greisen, Kassidy Johnson, Maria Linares and Dylan Phillips – earned Spring Big 12 Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in their respective sports, the league office announced on Thursday (July 21). Johnson (women’s track and field), Linares (women’s tennis) and Phillips (baseball) each claimed the honor outright in their sports, while Greisen tied Alabama’s Darcy Jennings and Oklahoma’s Cameron Guild for the accolade in women’s rowing. A Scott City man is jailed in Riley County on charges of alleged child sex crimes. The Riley County Police Department says 21-year-old Jessie Ivey was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a Sumner County warrant alleging single counts of rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14. An official with the Sumner County Attorney’s Office tells KMAN the victim reported the incident to law enforcement on July 8. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Division I college football players would have two periods of time — one in the winter and one in the spring — to enter the transfer portal and be immediately eligible to play if a proposed rule change gets final approval. Riley County remains in the high incidence rate for COVID with over 100 new cases. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) recorded 123 new COVID-19 cases for Riley County between July 9 – 15. The Incidence Rate is 165.7, keeping the County in the HIGH incidence category with 100 or more cases per 100,000 people. Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two COVID-19 positive patients at this time. KDHE has recently been sampling the newest sub variants of Omicron.
