Manhattan Regional Airport is reaching the end of phase 3 of its runway project. The airport shutdown completely May 12th to initiate that phase. Airport Director Brandon Keazer shared with the Airport Advisory Board June 12 that the paving of the runway intersection is almost complete. Keazer says phase 3 is estimated to be completed by July 19 and phase 4 will begin immediately afterward. The Manhattan Regional Airport is scheduled to reopen at the beginning of September.

Manhattan’s Juneteenth celebrations concluded Saturday, following three days of activities. The day began with a proclamation by Mayor Mark Hatesohl followed by the annual Unity Walk. The community walked from Longs Park to Douglass Park, mirroring the 1968 walk by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,, who delivered his final speech at Kansas State University, shortly before his assassination. Participants were welcomed with brunch, music, activities and vendors. K-State basketball player Ayoka Lee was among the many participants. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Letters containing suspicious white powder have been sent to lawmakers and other public officials across Kansas, officials announced Friday. No injuries have been reported, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. It had counted more than 30 letters as of late Friday afternoon. The news release didn’t provide details about the consistency of the white powder. In emails sent to legislators and obtained by The Topeka Capital-Journal, Tom Day, director of Legislative Administrative Services, said the Kansas Highway Patrol had informed his office of the letters, which contain a return address of either Kansas City or Topeka.…

Ryan Larson, 21, of Manhattan was arrested on June 15, 2023, around 4:30 p.m. on his Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Larson was transported to the Pottawatomie County Jail.
