KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. had his first career four-hit game along with three RBIs to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 7-3 Monday night for a doubleheader sweep. In the opener, Brad Keller tossed seven strong innings and rookie Vinnie Pasquantino homered and drove in two runs as the Royals beat the Tigers 3-1. Still awaiting additional charges to be filed, a new status hearing for a former Northview Elementary paraprofessional was scheduled for August. Aaron Zachry on Monday appeared via video in Riley County District Court represented by attorney Cole Hawver, facing nearly three dozen counts including sexual exploitation of a child. Scheduled for arraignment, that’s once again been postponed again until August 15. Zachry was arrested nearly a year ago by Riley County Police, who after investigating a call of suspicious activity at Northview Pool say they found nude photos of minors on Zachry’s cell-phone. A Manhattan man was injured Saturday following a single vehicle crash in northern Riley County. The Riley County Police Department says 22-year-old Michael Walls was northbound on Tuttle Creek Blvd around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Fairview Church Road when he lost control of his car. According to Monday’s RCPD Activity Report, the car slid into oncoming traffic, spun back into the northbound lane and rolled off the shoulder. Walls was ejected from the vehicle. The USD 383 school board discussed Wednesday the district’s current COVID-19 response plan for the upcoming school year. Masks are not included, but could be brought back for discussion, if conditions warrant. Superintendent Marvin Wade explains the factors that the district plans on monitoring the most as kids return to school. Board President Curt Herrman says he’s confident in the district’s ability to navigate the current COVID-19 climate and any issues that may arise in the future.
