Kansas State receiver Malik Knowles used an Instagram post Thursday to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. A senior with one year of eligibility remaining, he finished 2022 with 48 catches for 725 yards and two touchdowns. He had a year of eligibility remaining because of the COVID year granted by the NCAA. For his career, Knowles totaled 127 catches, 1,867 yards with 14 receiving touchdowns. He added 36 carries for 440 yards and four TD’s rushing. As a special teams performer, Knowles averaged 25.26 yards per kick return.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Mike Moustakas was released by the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday with $22 million remaining on his contract. The veteran infielder was designated for assignment Dec. 22 when the team signed catcher Curt Casali. The 34-year-old Moustakas batted .214 with seven homers and 25 RBIs in 78 games for the Reds last season. The three-time All-Star was drafted second overall by Kansas City in 2007 and signed a $64 million, four-year contract with Cincinnati in December 2019. (AP) — The Douglas County District Attorney’s office has decided to drop prosecution of a woman who was accused of killing a 9-month-old boy in 2016 at a Eudora day care where she worked. District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced Wednesday a new report from a forensic pathologist found Oliver Ortiz had a congenital heart defect and other pre-existing conditions that led to his death on Sept. 29, 2016, at Kids Group Daycare in Eudora. The NFL said Thursday it will not resume the Bills-Bengals game that was suspended Monday night after Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin collapsed and went into cardiac arrest on the field. The league said some of the factors in coming to its decision included that “not playing the Buffalo-Cincinnati game to its conclusion will have no effect on which clubs qualify for the postseason. FAIRWAY, Kan. (AP) — The Shawnee Tribe is asking to take over ownership of a historical site in Kansas that might contain unmarked graves of Native American students.
