Authorities are investigating a pair of arson reports from over the weekend in northern Riley County. According to the Riley County Police Department, three people, aged 40, 41 and 72, were listed as victims when a 30-year-old unnamed individual started a fire Friday evening, just after 5:30 p.m. Police said the fire damaged two wheat fields and equipment on one property. The fires were reported in the 1400 block of Senn Road and near the intersection of Walsburg and Madison Creek Roads, north of Leonardville. The estimated total loss from both fields was $6,250. From the Times of Pottawatomie County WAMEGO, June. 22 — An Onaga woman was arrested early Sunday morning on attempted murder charges, according to a press release from Pottawatomie County Sheriff Doug Adams. At approximately 12:35 a.m., the PTSO received a 911 call about a female run over in the 20000 block of Pauling Run Rd., rural Wamego, the release said. Deputies responded to the location. A Marysville man was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a rollover crash in Pottawatomie County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The crash occurred about two miles north of Havensville along southbound K-63 at mile marker 25. Authorities say the driver of a 2021 Kenworth semi-truck drove off the west edge of the highway, overcorrected, and rolled the vehicle, which came to rest in the east ditch. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Nathan Musil of Marysville, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. By Rose Gruenbacher RCPD director Brian Peete on Thursday said local CBD stores selling products not compliant with Kansas law could see police enforcement “at any time.” Some store owners and customers are complaining that Manhattan is enforcing the law differently than other places. Riley County police officers recently visited CBD stores in the area, instructing them to remove products that have illegal amounts of THC or otherwise don’t fall within Kansas law. Between April 27 and May 31, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment recorded 35 visits to emergency departments in Riley County where overdose was suspected. These emergency department visits have been attributed to a variety of suspected substances, including but not limited to alcohol, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids such as fentanyl. The average age of the patients was 34. Of those affected, 46% were male. This number is significantly higher than average. Based on data from the previous 52-week period, a typical five-week span in Riley County would see approximately 16 overdose-related emergency visits. To view the full…

A Manhattan woman has been charged in connection to drug-related offenses from Geary County. 40-year-old Angel Morgan was arrested by Riley County Police Tuesday in the 1900 block of Hunting Avenue. She’s charged with the distribution of over 100 grams of heroin and/or fentanyl, distribution of opiates or narcotics and the use of a communication facility in the commission of a felony drug violation. Bond was set at $100,000. Morgan was transferred to Geary County where she remains jailed. Click here for more local news.
