The Riley County Law Board has named Brian Peete as the new director for the Riley County Police Department in a 7-0 vote at a special meeting Monday. That was Riley County Law Board Vice Chair Robert Ward. Board Chair Linda Morse said that Monday’s special meeting served as a simply decision announcement, and there are more details that need to be worked out before Peete officially begins work. (Kansas State Athletics) – For a third time this season Kansas State had a pair of players earn weekly honors from the conference, as junior quarterback Will Howard was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and senior punter/kicker Ty Zentner earned Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week accolades, the conference office announced Monday. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals hired Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro as manager Sunday night, turning over the young core of a rebuilding franchise to a forward-thinking manager with experience winning in a small market. But his trial has been postponed indefinitely so that a federal judge can decide whether he is too mentally ill to help his lawyers or follow what’s going on in court.
