K-State used a pair of 30-point quarters on Saturday to record a dominant win over UCF, 97-67, at Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats extended its home court winning streak to 16 games. This is tied for the sixth-longest home win streak in program history and tied for the third-longest in Bramlage Coliseum. Built in 1887 by Christena and Joseph Brandt, the hotel was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. The Salina Airport Authority announced Thursday that Amazon has purchased 20 acres for a new distribution center. The property is in Airport Industrial Center Subdivision No. 3, and the company plans a 90,000-plus-square-foot last-mile distribution facility at 1850 W. Water Well Road, officials said. The new facility, expected to generate at least 100 new jobs, will serve as a critical component of Amazon’s regional logistics network, further strengthening Salina’s role as a major economic hub in Kansas. A murder trial garnering national attention continued Friday in Westmoreland after pausing Tuesday when the defendant’s sisters were involved in a fatal car crash. Dana Chandler is charged with murdering her ex-husband and his fiancée in 2002 in Topeka. This will be the third time Chandler has been tried for the alleged crimes. She was convicted in 2012, her convictions were overturned in 2018, and her second trial ended in a hung jury in 2022. K-State Athletics generates more than $486 million in annual economic activity for the Manhattan community and the state of Kansas according to a economic impact study performed by consulting firm Tripp Umbach and the athletics department. Tripp Umbach, who also recently performed a similar study with the university, utilized data from 2022-23 to conduct the study, which revealed that more than 3,850 jobs resulted from the department’s impact. From a tax perspective, K-State Athletics generated $26.2 million in direct and indirect/induced tax payments for state and local governments in Kansas, with $21.0 million amount specifically benefiting Manhattan.
