A 15-year-old female from Eskridge sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon in Wabaunsee County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m., about three miles west of Mission Valley High School. The driver, identified as Corbi M. Tenpenny, was westbound on Mission Valley Road when the 2005 Ford F-250 she was driving left the north edge of the roadway. A Wamego nurse practitioner is suing the practice where she worked for discrimination and harassment after she said the company fired her for taking maternity leave. Sarah Pageler filed suit against Prairie Winds Family Care Dec. 6. In court documents, she says that her supervisor, Jennifer White-Slough, became irritable with Pageler after Pageler in March 2023 shared her intent to take paid leave once her baby was born using accrued time off. By Emma Loura Riley County commissioners on Monday agreed to pay an engineering firm for work on the new emergency medical services headquarters after previously rejecting a revised contract that more than doubled the estimated cost without prior notice. The county hired Kaw Valley Engineering to perform material testing and inspection for the construction of the building with an original estimated cost of $12,729. An Ogden man was arrested Friday and charged with several counts of violating the offender registration act. 41 year-old Marcus Grant, of Ogden, was arrested at the RCPD Headquarters for aggravated violation of the offender registration act, and 8 additional counts of violation of the offender registration act. Grant is confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the report on a total bond of $15,000. Grant has been a registered offender since August of 2013 for an aggravated robbery conviction in Salina and aggravated battery conviction in Junction City, according to the Kansas Offender Registry.
