Officers filed a report of battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and interference with a law enforcement officer in the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Manhattan, on September 8, 2025, at approximately 8:46 a.m. A 38-year-old man was listed as the victim when it was reported a 35-year-old man was acting disorderly, interfered with an officer’s investigation and battered an officer. By Toby Hammes Manhattan High cross country launched its 2025 season on home turf, hosting the Manhattan Invitational at Warner Park on Saturday with standout performances across both the boys and girls races. Head coach Susan Melgares said the day felt like the perfect kickoff. “We’re so excited to get the season started,” Melgares said. “We began summer training back in June, so it’s fun to finally get out here and challenge ourselves against other teams. By Emma Loura Enrollment numbers at K-State show continued growth this semester. At Friday’s State of the University address, K-State’s president Richard Linton said there are 3,813 first-time freshmen this fall, one of the highest in the university’s history. The number of first-year students is up by 320 since fall 2024, when there were 3,493 first-year students. The official number of all K-State students has yet to be released. “It’s not the official number yet, that doesn’t happen until the 20th day,” Linton said. “As of yesterday (Sept. 4), it was 21,228 students that are enrolled at Kansas State University.…
The trial of an Olathe man charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery began Monday, with the start of jury selection. Kane Everett Harris, 20, was arrested on September 7, 2023 by Johnson County Sheriff’s officers. According to documents filed in Riley County District Court, he is alleged to have committed the crimes in September 2022. Both charges involve the same victim, a woman born in 2004. A Manhattan woman is in jail following an arrest Friday afternoon on several charges. Riley County Police say 33-year-old Tanasha Dupree was arrested at the courthouse on a warrant for probation violation, stemming from earlier charges of aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement, criminal threat fleeing and eluding and battery. Online court records show most of the charges are related to a March 24 incident, where Dupree allegedly assaulted a man and battered and threatened a woman. She’s also accused of attempting to flee an arrest. She’s additionally charged with domestic battery from a Feb 22 incident in Riley County. Dupree remains…
The Riley County Police Department arrested a Georgia man Friday, for charges that include distribution of a controlled substance causing death. The man is currently held in the Riley County Jail on a $150,000 bond. Rhante Rashean Brown, 32, of Savannah, GA, was booked with RCPD at 11:00 p.m., after being extradited from Georgia. He was arrested by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 19. Brown is charged with distribution of a controlled substance causing death, two counts of distribution of 10 to less than 100 units of an opiate and three counts of use of a communication facility…
By Kamden Tatkenhorst For the first time this season, Kansas State soccer came away from a match with a loss. The Wildcats (4-1-1) suffered two second-half goals by Nebraska (5-0-2) for their first loss of the season. Things looked promising to start for Colleen Corbin’s team out of the gate. Rilyn Rintoul was fouled near the penalty box, but it was ruled that the foul was committed outside the box. Instead of a penalty kick, K-State was awarded a free kick, which was missed.
