Holler, 23, of Manhattan was driving his Toyota Corolla, registered to Virginia, going north and driving on the paved median of K-177, just south of the ramp for Interstate Highway 70. The KHP reports Holler hit two traffic signs before colliding with a “bridge impact attenuator” at 10:33 p.m. Holler was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The formula of hard work and family commitment worked for the Riley County senior, and she put together the best season of her high school career this winter. Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday night on K-177, about 10 miles south of Manhattan, near the I-70 interchange. Deputies from the Geary County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 10:30 pm and conducted an initial investigation, shutting down the highway for several hours overnight. The scene was turned over to Kansas Highway Patrol investigators, who remained on scene until just after 3 a.m. Details are sparse, but officials say the crash involved one vehicle and KHP has been attempting to contact family members of the deceased driver. He faces charges for driving under the influence, failure to maintain his lane on a four-lane highway, and having defective headlamps. His bond was set at $750. Officers filed a report of aggravated assault in 700 block of Colorado St. in Manhattan on April 10, 2025, at around 8:22 p.m.  A 31-year-old male was listed as the victim when he reported that a 41-year-old male armed himself with a sledge hammer during an incident, placing the victim in fear of harm. By Emma Loura Pawnee Mental Health asked Riley County officials for an extension of its lease to 100 years to make renovations to the building on 2001 Claflin Road. Pawnee, a non-profit community mental health center, has a 10-year lease set to expire in June 2027. Commissioners on Thursday suggested a lease extension shorter than a century. “They’re not going to be any structural changes to the building itself,” said deputy county counselor Jacob Hansen. As more electric vehicles come onto the market, communities like Manhattan are struggling to keep pace with necessary infrastructure. During a Tuesday presentation to the city commission, Jared Tremblay, with the Flint Hills Metropolitan Planning Organization, presented the region’s EV readiness plan. In Kansas approximately 88,000 electric vehicles were sold in 2024.
