In a tale of two games, Wamego softball showcased its ability to win in both phases of the diamond, sweeping Lawrence Free State with 2-0 and 15-2 wins on Monday. The Red Raiders (12-3) remained third in 4A East, only trailing 19-1 Eudora and 17-4 Fort Scott. In the 2-0 opener, Wamego’s Peyton Hardenburger added another no-hitter to her storied high school career. The Riley County Police Department released its latest reports detailing a range of law enforcement activity across Manhattan and surrounding areas. Six arrests were made, including 42-year-old Donte Rayvon Roberts of Junction City and 34-year-old Decemantrea Nashaya Richardson of Wichita. Both were taken into custody at the Westwood Motel on Fort Riley Boulevard. Roberts faces multiple felony drug charges, including possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, along with criminal possession of a weapon and defacing firearm identification. In the next school year, Manhattan High officials are implementing a zero-tolerance policy for devices. After the Blue Ribbon Task Force gathered input from the community, students and teachers at USD 383 schools, Manhattan High has drafted a new handbook policy for the upcoming academic year. Two Manhattan residents remain in custody, after being arrested on charges of possessing and distributing methamphetamine. According to the Riley County Police Department, 36-year-old Cody Dodge and 30-year-old Brittanie Vaughn, were arrested Thursday evening and early Friday morning after officers executed a search warrant in the 2100 block of Elm Lane. On May 8, 2025, at approximately 6:21 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Fort Riley Blvd. A 36-year-old male was reported as driving a motor vehicle with an expired registration and a suspended driver’s license. Michael Nash, 46, of Manhattan, KS, was arrested on May 7, 2025, at approximately 10:01 p.m. in the 2500 block of Candle Crest Circle on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation.
