Manhattan Area Technical College is celebrating National Career Technical Education Day tomorrow. The City of Manhattan plans to install several “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” signs in flood-prone areas throughout the Wildcat Creek watershed. The venture is part of the Resilient Wildcat Creek Floodplain Management plan. Riley County has confirmed 28 new positive COVID-19 cases and 16 recoveries since April 7. This brings the county’s total number of active cases to 40. The percent positive rate for the week of April 7 was 2.1 percent, or 33 positive cases out of 1,582 total tests. MISSION, Kan. — Kansas’ top health official says the state is suspending distribution of Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccines as federal health officials investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots. Lee Norman, secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, predicted the pause won’t have a “big impact” on the state’s overall rate of shots. That’s because less than 4% of the shots administered in Kansas have been from Johnson & Johnson, according to KDHE data. However, Norman noted some clinics scheduled for Tuesday morning had been put on hold.
