A Junction City man was life flighted to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka over the weekend after being stabbed by his girlfriend, according to a Junction City Police Department press release. Police responded to an apartment complex at 110 W. 16th St., Sunday where they found John Edward Motton, 25, with a stab wound to his chest. An investigation determined that Kyrianna Johnson, 21, assaulted Motton while they were inside the apartment in which they live together. Johnson was arrested for domestic aggravated battery and is being held at Geary County Detention Center without bond. Motton is currently in stable…

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Many Kansas counties’websites may be at risk as they lack basic protocols that make it easier for hackers to impersonate websites. Out of 105 counties, only eight of them have websites ending in .gov, a domain extension only government officials can control, and 60 counties’ URLs start with “http” rather than the more secure “https.“ Security concerns have become more prominent as local governments have become frequent targets in ransomware, where hackers hold data hostage in exchange for money. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas lawmakers are considering blocking the sale of raw milk or requiring farmers to include warning labels on packaging after the state abandoned a law prohibiting farmers from advertising raw milk outside their farm. The Wichita Eagle reports that the state stopped enforcing the ban after Shepherd’s Gate Dairy operators Mark and Coraleen Bunner filed a lawsuit in opposition of the 1967 law in October. The chamber of commerce had a change in leadership from past chamber board chair Wayne Sloan to new chamber board  Larie Schoap. Officials from Riley and Pottawatomie County and the City of Manhattan met Thursday to discuss potentially moving the Riley County Police Department Aggieville substation. The meeting was the monthly joint meeting between the three entities. The move would be in conjunction with Aggieville improvements and would put the substation on the ground floor of a parking garage on the corner of North Manhattan Avenue and Laramie Street. Riley County might look into billing the Aggieville Business Association for emergency services used on Fake Patty’s Day. EMS Director David Adams asked the Riley County commission if this is something they might consider. He says he has spoken with other departments about the possibility since the ABA has their name attached to the celebration. One of his suggestions is to conduct a cost analysis study to see how much it is costing the county.  Preliminary numbers show the costs at around $3,500. Manhattan-Ogden school board members gave consensus this week to the latest design updates for planned renovations at Manhattan High’s west campus. Gould Evans and McCown Gordon representatives showed board members their plans which would include an additional storage space that could dual purpose as a storm shelter. Without the space, the project would come in $72,000 under the $26.8 million budget. However, with the space included in the design that puts the project over budget by about $200,000.
