By Emma Loura Riley County commissioners on Monday agreed to pay an engineering firm for work on the new emergency medical services headquarters after previously rejecting a revised contract that more than doubled the estimated cost without prior notice. The county hired Kaw Valley Engineering to perform material testing and inspection for the construction of the building with an original estimated cost of $12,729. An Ogden man was arrested Friday and charged with several counts of violating the offender registration act. 41 year-old Marcus Grant, of Ogden, was arrested at the RCPD Headquarters for aggravated violation of the offender registration act, and 8 additional counts of violation of the offender registration act. Grant is confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the report on a total bond of $15,000. Grant has been a registered offender since August of 2013 for an aggravated robbery conviction in Salina and aggravated battery conviction in Junction City, according to the Kansas Offender Registry. A 23-year-old man sustained injuries after his foot was reportedly run over by a known individual driving a silver Ford F-150 early Sunday morning. The defending state champion Indians hosted Smith Center, Dodge City, Blue Valley-Stilwell, Lincoln Southwest (Nebraska) and Paola for their annual dual tournament and rolled through all five, winning by a combined score of 347-51. “They wrestled really well,” head coach Shawn Bammes said. “Those football guys are getting in shape.
