Pawnee Mental Health Services received over $19,000 in Grow Green Match Day donations. Robbin Cole, PMHS executive director, says these funds will help them to continue providing mental health and substance abuse treatment services during the COVID-19 pandemic. She says improving this technology could also make them more prepared for the future. Pawnee Mental Health Services is still providing walk-in CRISIS services at its 1558A Hayes Dr. location in Manhattan. Those wanting to set up an appointment should call their local PMHS office.

As sports continue to wait on the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, KMAN continues to air classic games from both the Kansas State Wildcats and Kansas City Royals. Three games will be featured this weekend, with the first kicking off at 2:00 on Saturday with K-State and Baylor from 2011. An Alternate Care Site location for the Riley County health department to treat potential coronavirus patients has been announced. County Counselor Clancy Holeman informed the Riley County Commission Thursday that the Holiday Inn Express at Blue Earth Plaza has been selected as the chosen care site. The hotel has been closed since last month. It came available after plans fell through securing the Four Points by Sheraton location on Fort Riley Blvd. The ACS is a location where patients who do not require hospitalization could continue their recovery. Update 5 p.m. Friday Riley County health and safety officials provided no additional updates on the new positive COVID-19 tests at their daily online press conference Friday, but say the community could see a large jump in pending test numbers as soon as Saturday. Officials reported 113 pending tests earlier Friday due to increased availability of testing kits, but officially released a pending test count of 24. The discrepancy is due to still pending confirmation of where those tested individuals reside and whether they are Riley County residents. “We’ll have a little bit more clarification about that hopefully tomorrow morning,”…

TOPEKA, Kan. — Gov. Laura Kelly says her goal is to start reopening the Kansas economy on May 3 but she may not be able to do it because the state is “nowhere near” having the supplies needed for adequate coronavirus testing. Kelly’s comments Thursday came after hundreds of people protested around the Statehouse against a stay-at-home order from the governor set to expire May 3.
