Officials estimated more than 12,000 voters in Riley County had cast ballots as advance voting closed on Monday. Riley County clerk Rich Vargo, reporting during the county commission meeting Monday morning, said advance voting closed at noon Monday ahead of Election Day on Tuesday. He said as of Saturday, 11,655 people had participated in the election process. Two people were injured in an accident just before 6 p.m. Saturday in Wabaunsee County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported 2016 Buick passenger vehicle driven by Carsyn Frieden, 20, Cheney, was westbound on I-70 just east of Spring Creek Road. The vehicle hydroplaned, left the roadway to the right and collided with a 2008 Chevy pickup that was merging onto I-70 westbound. After impact the Buick rolled and came to rest in the north ditch.
