Commissioners Conduct Meeting in Randolph

0
By KMAN Staff on October 16, 2014 Riley County

commission-randolphA few Randolph residents were in attendance for Thursday’s Riley County Commission meeting, which was held in Randolph.  This was the third stop on the commission’s small towns tour, with the last stop being in Leonardville next week.

The commission was made aware of a unique situation by Riley County Police Department Director, Brad Schoen, during his presentation.  Large parties, recently held at a commercial agricultural location in Riley County, have resulted in a few alcohol related situations and minor problems.

Schoen mentioned officers were able to obtain an anticipatory search warrant to investigate the premises.  When officers arrived on scene, someone shouted from their vehicle that there was a man with a gun in the area.  The clip to the gun ejected accidentally, but no injuries or dangerous situations resulted from this.

As far as the party scene within the building, Schoen commented, “Basically you couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a liquor statute they weren’t violating”.

RCPD did get the situation under control, but Schoen said he wanted to bring this up to the commission in case additional problems ever ensue.  He mentioned, “there may come a time when there are these sorts of things going on in the county that you [the commissioners]may want to address”.

Register of Deeds, Debbie Regester shared her year to date revenue report.  She said she hopes things “pick up a bit”, as revenues are still down.

Regester did have some good news to share however, as her department finally got a mortgage of over one million dollars, after months of not having any over a million.
