The Junction City Fire Department responded to a house fire late Tuesday night. JCFD said in a press release that the cause was accidental.

The fire started at a single-story house at 805 West 7th St. in Junction City around 11:30 p.m. The 61-year-old homeowner was taken to Geary Community Hospital for smoke inhalation and was experiencing difficulty breathing.

The fire began in a bedroom facing the street. JCFD found extensive heat and smoke damage in that room, with minimal damage to other rooms. The structure also sustained minimal water damage in the process of extinguishing the fire.
