Kansas State Police Department will be offering training on how to respond to active violence and critical incidents to both students and faculty at K-State near the end of the month.
The training will be focused on an active shooter response training program called ALiCE — which stands for alert, lock-down, inform, counter, evacuate. Past active shooter situations have been evaluated by agencies to study how law enforcement and potential victims can minimize the risk during such events.
The program will explore possible victim responses outside of and in addition to lock-downs in such scenarios.
The training will be offered October 30 from 1-3 p.m. in the K-State Big Twelve conference room. Additionally, departments can schedule training for its employees upon request.
There is no charge to participate, but prior registration is required to make sure there are enough educational materials as well as adequate seating. Registrations can be made online at HRIS Self Enrollment or by sending and email to Megan Hoelting at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu.
