The Kansas State University Executive Reawakening Team has released its plan for reopening the K-State community.
This plan, like the statewide reopening plan announced by Gov. Laura Kelly last week, comes in phases and requires that certain criteria be met before advancing to each stage.
The first phase abides by Riley County’s “Restricted Activities” orders that was put in place Monday and also implements other guidelines, such as physical distancing, limiting mass gatherings to 10 or fewer people and quarantining for 14 days if contact is made with confirmed cases.
Phase two will begin as soon as May 18 as long as Kansas stay-at-home orders continue to lift, public-health trends continue in a positive direction and health care systems can handle potential and confirmed case numbers.
During this phase, mass-gathering limits stand at 30 or few people.
Phase three will being no sooner than June 1 and will include mass-gathering limits of 90 or fewer people.
During each phase, employees returning to campus must complete Environment Health and Safety Training.
The reopening plan will end with the allowance of large gatherings on a case-by-case basis and a phaseout of bans on activities.
Throughout the reopening plan, certain criteria must be met before moving on to the next phase, most of which are in line with state guidelines.
One line of criteria for beginning the phaseout of the plan is the availability of COVID-19 vaccine(s) or treatment(s).
