Manhattan Regional Airport is among 16 airports in Kansas that will be receiving federal funds through an ariport infrastructure grant.
The grant was announced through Republican Congressman Roger Marshall’s office.
According to Marshall’s office, a $7.4 million in grant monies will be distributed through Kansas First District airports, with the Manhattan airport set to receive $450,000. The Salina airport will receive the highest grant in the amount of $886,500.
In a media release issued Tuesday, Marshall stated, “These grants will not just help our local airports remain efficient and safe, but will help with longer term planning for future development projects that kee pour rural communities competitive.”
This is the Department of Transportation’s first allotment of the total $3.18 billion in Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding for airports across the United States.
