The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

Officers filed a report for theft in the 1400 block of Beechwood Ter. in Manhattan on November 6, 2020, at approximately 7:18 a.m. Officers listed a 34-year-old male as the victim when it was reported his blue 2013 Toyota Yaris was stolen. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $5,500.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Claflin Rd. and College Ave. in Manhattan on November 6, 2020, at approximately 7:56 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Savannah Sunderman, 21, of Manhattan had rear-ended a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Jennifer Leonard, 51, of Wamego. Leonard was transported to Via Christi for treatment of minor injuries. Sunderman was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

Officers filed a report for burglary in the 1500 block of College Ave. in Manhattan on November 6, 2020, at approximately 9:51 a.m. Officers listed a 35-year-old male and Prime Place as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect stole Stihl 192 and 290 chainsaws, a Stihl HS 46CE hedge trimmer, Stihl SH56CE and BG56CE blowers, and a Black and Decker chainsaw from a maintenance shed. Officers filed a report for aggravated assault in the 500 block of McCall Rd. in Manhattan on November 6, 2020, at approximately 9:56 a.m. Officers listed a 56-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a known 54-year-old male suspect threatened him.

Officers filed a report for burglary in the 200 block of Manhattan Town Center in Manhattan on November 6, 2020, at approximately 10:01 p.m. Officers listed a 42-year-old male and a 22-year-old female as the victims when it was reported an unknown suspect broke into their vehicle and stole a gray Swiss tech backpack, a rose gold HP laptop, textbooks, and other miscellaneous items. Officers filed a report for theft in the 200 block of Hackberry Ave. in Manhattan on November 7, 2020, at approximately 6:35 a.m. Officers listed a 40-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a known 21-year-old male suspect stole his silver 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $25,000.00. Chance Kurzweil, 21, of Manhattan was arrested for theft. Kurzweil was issued a total bond of $3,000.00 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for burglary in the 400 block of N. 4th St. in Manhattan on November 7, 2020, at approximately 9:42 a.m. Officers listed a 25-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole a lime green stethoscope. Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property and attempted burglary in the 500 block of Winged Foot Way in Manhattan on November 7, 2020, at approximately 1:33 p.m. Officers listed a 28-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect attempted to break into her vehicle.
